On 2nd March, 2017 Dipankar Sarkar, the coordinator of Purulia Childline Services with the help of the local police and BDO Souvik Bhattacharya , has again fortunately stopped two Child Marriage cases in the Purihasha and Banjora villages of Purulia. After obstructing the marriage of a ninth grade student residing in Purihasha village the team further proceeded to Banjora village and prevented another such case of a girl appearing for Secondary Examination.
The BDO has taken signed Agreements from the fathers in which they swore not to get their daughters married before they attain the legal age of 18. The police have also warned the bridegroom-to-be and his family on this issue.
